I am an experienced and qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and a Clinical Supervisor. I work face-to-face with adults of all ages and offer short term counselling or long term psychotherapy, depending on your own personal needs.
You may be seeking counselling for a specific reason or perhaps have more of a vague sense of dissatisfaction with life; feeling lost, empty or in limbo. Whatever your circumstances, I offer a safe and welcoming environment where we can explore together your unique experiences and challenges in life. I will accept you exactly as you are, with all the difficulties and fears that you may feel unsure or anxious about. We will work together to help you gain insight and understanding of your situation and rediscover strengths that you may have lost along the way. You may find this enables you to move forward with your life with greater clarity, authenticity and fulfilment. We will work at your pace on whatever issues feel most important to you. My approach is collaborative and non-directive as I strongly believe that each of us has our own inner resources to make the right decisions and choices for ourselves.
I integrate person-centred counselling with a psychodynamic approach which can help identity how behavioural and emotional patterns from early life experiences may repeat themselves in later life. Gaining this personal insight may help you to understand how these formative behavioural patterns may influence your life and relationships in the present.
I also offer clinical supervision for both individuals, groups and organisations.
Training & Experience
My experience of counselling encompasses a wide range of issues with clients from all walks of life and circumstances. As well as private practice, I have also been working as a counsellor for several local charities for the past eight years. This includes working with male and female survivors of historical sexual abuse, as well as for a charity that supports vulnerable and socially excluded women with multiple and complex needs. In addition, I have experience of counselling students at De Montfort University.
Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy Supervision.
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
