I am an experienced and fully qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and a Clinical Supervisor. I work face-to-face with individuals from the age of 16 through to adults of all ages and offer short term counselling or long term psychotherapy, depending on your own personal needs.
You may be seeking counselling for a specific reason or perhaps have more of a vague sense of dissatisfaction with life; feeling lost, empty or in limbo. Whatever your circumstances, I offer a safe and welcoming environment where we can explore together, in confidence, the unique experiences or challenges that have brought you to counselling. I will accept you exactly as you are, with all the difficulties and fears that you may feel unsure or anxious about. We will work together to help you gain insight and understanding of your situation and rediscover strengths that you may have lost along the way. This will enable you to move forward with your life with greater clarity, authenticity and fulfillment. We will work at your pace, on whatever issues feel most important to you. My approach is one of collaboration rather than being directive as I strongly believe that each of us has our own inner resources to make the right decisions and choices for ourselves. The therapeutic relationship we form is the foundation of our counselling and is based on acceptance, trust and safety. This provides a conducive environment in which to share your experiences with me and become empowered to make changes to yourself or your life should you wish to do so.
I am a person-centred counsellor, but also draw on my psychodynamic training as this can help identity how behavioural and emotional patterns from early life experiences can repeat themselves in later life. Gaining this personal insight can help you to understand yourself more by becoming aware of the impact these formative patterns may have on your life and relationships in the present.
I also offer clinical supervision for both individuals, groups and organisations.
Training & Experience
My experience of counselling encompasses a wide range of issues with clients from all walks of life, including different nationalities, ethnicities, religions and sexual orientations. As well as my private practice, I have also been working as a counsellor for several local charities for the past six years. This includes working with male and female survivors of historical sexual abuse, as well as for a charity that supports vulnerable and socially excluded women with multiple and complex needs. I also have experience of counselling students in a University environment.
Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Certificate of HE in Psychodynamic Counselling
Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy Supervision.
